A young autistic surgeon from Wyoming suffers from savant syndrome, a rare but extraordinary condition in which persons with serious mental disabilities, including autistic disorder, have some ‘island of genius’ which stands in marked, incongruous contrast to overall handicap in which case, he reacts to people and the environment in a different way. Will his inability to react ‘normally’ to his patients stand in the way of saving their lives?
